Literature Text

I am an ocean
that nothing floats upon

I refuse to let anything
rise above me

but I hate to have any
sailors below my depths

They are uncharted shores
I forbid you to explore

so I'll let you fall
at your own pace

but then, with haste
bring you back up again

the seaweed will curl around
your pale, shaking ankles
drag you up from below with
a gentle anger

and you will hate me
and you will love me
and all the while we'll all
be drowning.
Don't you dare drown in me.

One huge metaphor -
interesting perspective.
